“COLOUR MASTER” contains a complete overview on 328 pages of various materials used in color design, such as wallpapers, textiles, wood, and construction materials. Designers, architects, artists, and other creatives can draw inspiration using a dozen different color templates as well as various shapes and patterns. Each page of the book represents an independent creative field for experimentation. All color representations are coded according to the 490 RAL EFFECT colors. With “COLOUR MASTER,” author Professor Axel Venn, an internationally recognized color researcher and trend consultant, has created another work on the use of color following “COLORS OF HEALTH” and “COLOR DICTIONARY.” The fan deck shows all 490 RAL EFFECT colors – 420 solid colors and 70 metallic colors. Each page shows the metallic shade that harmonizes with the six solid colors. The solid colors are based on water-soluble coatings, while the metallic colors are based on acrylic coatings.

Which colors do people associate with “exotic,” how does “glamorous” appear to them, and what color is “intelligent”? The Color Dictionary answers these questions and translates 360 adjectives into color compositions within the RAL DESIGN system. It is an indispensable working tool for advertisers, architects, interior designers, master painters, and anyone fascinated by the world of color. Axel Venn, professor of color design and trend scouting at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts in Hildesheim, conducted a scientific study in which more than 60 participants were asked to associate terms with colors: from comfortable to uncomfortable, from paradisiacal to useful, from noble to worthless, or from trendy to archaic. For each of the 360 adjectives, the book presents 49 color illustrations and the corresponding color scale, specified in colors of the RAL DESIGN system. This distinguishes Professor Venn’s Color Dictionary from other color theories, which typically link one term to one color: the Color Dictionary gives users room for interpretation and opens up variation possibilities for their color messages. Prof. Axel Venn has been a professor of color design and trend scouting at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts in Hildesheim. He has worked extensively with color for many years and is internationally recognized as a color, trend, and aesthetics consultant. Axel Venn laid the foundations for this study over many years of work. The evaluation was carried out together with designer Janina Venn-Rosky.
